Satopanth Lake (Satopanth Tal) is a spiritual high-altitude glacial lake located at an elevation of 4,600 meters (15,092 ft) in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand Himalayas. It is covered with the majestic Chaukhamba, Neelkanth Peak, and Balakun Peak, the lake is one of the most sacred crystal clear water and breathtaking destinations in the Garhwal Himalayas.
The name “Satopanth” is derived from the Sanskrit words “Satya” (Truth) and “Panth” (Path), meaning “The Path of Truth.” The lake is triangular in shape and holds immense religious significance in Hindu mythology.

Religious Significance
According to Hindu beliefs, the three corners of the triangular lake represent the Trimurti:
It is believed that these three deities meditate at the lake on auspicious occasions. Another legend states that the Pandavas, accompanied by a dog (believed to be Lord Yama), crossed this region on their final journey to heaven, known as the Mahaprasthan.

The trek starts from Mana Village, India's last village near the Indo-Tibetan border. Follow the trail along the Alaknanda River, passing natural landmarks before reaching the beautiful campsite at Lakshmi Van, known for its Bhojpatra (birch) trees.

Continue through increasingly dramatic terrain, crossing glacial streams and traversing challenging ground. Today's trek leads to the sacred Satopanth Lake, a triangular glacial lake revered in Hindu mythology. Neelkanth behind, Swargarohini on the left, Chaukhamba straight ahead, Balakun on the right — a scintillating 360° view of a lifetime. before returning to Chakratirtha for the night.
